Coach Pasha's Pickleball Tips

  1. Arrive With A Clear Starting Point

Before your first pickleball lesson, tell Pasha what you enjoy, what feels difficult, and whether you have played before. Bring your paddle if you own one; otherwise, ask what to use. Wear comfortable court shoes and arrive ready to move. A few honest details help your pickleball coach choose a useful starting point, whether you want beginner pickleball lessons or help refining an established game.

  2. Choose The Right Lesson Format

Pick the format that matches how you learn and what you want to spend time on. Private pickleball lessons give you focused, individual feedback; semi-private pickleball lessons let you learn alongside a partner. Group pickleball lessons add shared drills and game situations, while hitting only sessions provide time to rally. Pasha can help you choose a format that fits your goals and comfort level.

  3. Set One Measurable Goal

A useful goal is specific enough to practice and track. Instead of saying you want to get better, choose a target such as making six of ten serves land deep or returning to ready position after each shot. Share it with Pasha before your pickleball lessons in Acton. A clear measure gives each session direction, while leaving room to adjust as your control and confidence grow.

  4. Practice One Skill Between Sessions

After a lesson, ask Pasha to name one skill and one drill you can safely repeat before you meet again. Keep practice short and focused: for example, work on a consistent serve toss or controlled dinks rather than trying to fix everything at once. Jot down what felt reliable and what broke down. That simple note helps your next session build on real practice, not guesswork.

  5. Make Feedback Easy To Use

During a drill, listen for one cue at a time, then try it for several repetitions before asking for another adjustment. If a direction is unclear, ask Pasha to demonstrate it or describe what success should feel like. This keeps feedback practical and reduces overthinking. A good pickleball instructor adapts explanations to the player, so speak up when a cue helps—or when you need a different way to understand it.

  6. Pick A Lesson For Your Stage

The best lesson fit depends on age, experience, and attention—not just a label. Beginner pickleball lessons can establish grip, scoring, and basic control; adult pickleball lessons can target movement, shot selection, or consistency. For younger players, ask about kids pickleball lessons or junior pickleball lessons suited to their age and goals. Tell Pasha what the player already knows so the session starts at the right level.

  7. Use Games To Test Progress

Drills build a shot, but a game shows whether you can choose it under pressure. Ask Pasha to finish a session with a short, focused game and one challenge, such as aiming returns away from the middle or recovering after a volley. Notice decisions as well as winners and errors. Applying a skill in play is a more useful sign of progress than counting perfect shots in an easy drill.

  8. Track Changes Between Lessons

Keep a brief lesson log with the date, focus, one cue, and a simple result, such as serves in out of ten attempts. Record how the shot feels, too; confidence and balance matter alongside accuracy. Review the notes with Pasha before setting your next target. A small record makes improvement visible over time, helps identify patterns, and keeps your pickleball lessons connected from one session to the next.

  9. Ask For A Session Plan

Before booking, explain how often you hope to play, what you want to improve, and whether you prefer individual attention or shared practice. Ask Pasha what a first session will cover and how you can continue learning between meetings. A flexible plan can combine instruction, drills, and play without promising instant results. The right pickleball lessons should give you a clear next step and a reason to keep practicing.

  10. Coach's Corner

I teach players to get back to a balanced ready position after every shot. As soon as you make contact, recover toward the middle of the space you can cover, keep your paddle in front, and soften your knees. Don’t watch your shot land with your feet planted. This simple habit gives you more time to respond to the next ball and makes your movement easier to adjust.

Whether you are new to the game or ready to sharpen a specific skill, I can help you choose a lesson format that fits your goals. Book private pickleball lessons, learn with a partner, join a group, or schedule a hitting only session with me in Acton. We’ll set a practical focus, build a plan for practice, and track your progress one step at a time. Contact me to book your pickleball lessons with Coach Pasha!
